Privacy Policy

Rocky Hill Residents Directory is a small private reference site. It links to public record custodians and historical collections in Rocky Hill, Hartford County, and Connecticut, but it does not host those government records. This policy explains the limited information that may pass through the site, the role of outside search providers, and the choices available to a visitor.

Data You Give Us Directly

If you send a message, the contact details and text in that message are available to us so we can answer it. The site does not require an account. Information typed into a sponsored search box or other third-party lookup is sent to the provider that operates that tool, not stored as a resident record by Rocky Hill Residents Directory. Do not enter a protected address, full birth date, Social Security number, or other sensitive detail into a message or search box unless the receiving provider’s own policy and lawful purpose support it.

Data Gathered Automatically

Our host may keep ordinary technical logs such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to keep pages available and understand which reference routes need repair. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or advertising measurement if those services are enabled. We do not use the pages to build a private profile of individual Rocky Hill readers.

How the Information Is Used

Technical data is used to operate the pages, troubleshoot failures, measure broad traffic, and improve the reference. A message is used to respond, document a correction, or protect the service. We do not sell a visitor list or create a database of the people who read the Rocky Hill pages. If a legal process requires disclosure, we respond as required by law.

Links to Other Portals

The pages link to the Rocky Hill Town Clerk, Assessor, Registrar, DPH, SOTS, courts, DCP, libraries, archives, USPS, Census, and historical sources. Those offices and providers have their own privacy notices, terms, retention practices, fees, and security controls. A click away from this site transfers the visitor to that service’s environment. Sponsored search results are especially subject to the provider’s policy rather than this one.

Who May Receive Data

Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs to keep the site running. If analytics or advertising tools are active, their providers may receive the limited automatic data described above. A valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful process may require disclosure. We do not disclose contact messages to a government records custodian unless the message or law requires that step, and we do not send a person’s search terms to the Town Clerk or Assessor for them.

Keeping Information Safe

The site uses an encrypted connection where supported, limits access to operational logs, and keeps information only as long as the stated purpose needs it. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or resident profiles here. No security measure can promise absolute protection, and an outside portal’s security is controlled by that portal.

Visitors Under 18

The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent personal information to the contact channel, use the Contact page and identify the material so it can be reviewed and removed when appropriate.

Your Connecticut Privacy Choices

Connecticut’s Data Privacy Act, described by the Attorney General, took effect July 1, 2023 and provides qualifying rights to access, correct, delete, obtain portability, learn about certain disclosures, and opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or profiling. The 2026 supplemental chapter 743jj is a current statutory update point. Coverage, thresholds, and exemptions matter, and state and local government entities are generally treated separately from covered businesses.

The Connecticut Personal Data Act also describes state-agency duties for personal-data accuracy, access, and security. Those laws do not give this site control over records held by the Rocky Hill Town Clerk, Assessor, Registrar, DPH, courts, or other custodians. To ask what this site keeps, request correction, or ask for deletion, use the Contact page. We will search the contact channel and available operational logs. A request to remove a government record must go to the office that holds it.

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy when the service, outside tools, or Connecticut law changes. The latest version will be posted here with the effective date reflected by the page’s publication context. Continuing to use the reference after an update means the revised policy applies to later use.
